Summary

This is the first group and most complicated design project I have ever worked with. It is indeed a challenging topic which requires innovation in a mature product market. By quantities amounts of researches analyzing user habits, we came up with this innovative solution to reduce the size of and weight of the mitre saw to fit the mobility users’ needs.

Besides from above, this design is the first time we push ourselves a step closer to the real industry working procedure and design from multi-disciplines to meet the criteria from manufacturing capability, marketing requirements, customer feedback and so on. From this industrial corporation project, it indeed provides us with more insights about design itself.

It is not only limited in the lifecycle product which pursuing function and aesthetic values but for industrial categories, the ergonomic part, how the product interacts with its users defiantly need to be carefully designed by designers together with engineers. The design is never only limited in its appearance, but also its function.
